Egg-cellence: The importance of eggs
Written by Carly Greene
We see them on out plates in the morning. When mixed with flour, milk, sugar and other ingredients they make a delicious cake. They are eggs. What do we know about the small, oval, shelled food?
It is the origin of life. Yes, in the egg the embryo is given all the nutrients and immunity it will need as it grows. So what does that have to do with us? We can gain those benefits from eating an egg. Remember Mama chicken can't eat for two, nature figured it out for her and baby chick receives nutrition through the yolk while still inside the egg.
Nutrition:
Selenium - This mineral helps boost immunity
Vitamin A - Promotes/improves eye health especially retina and skin. Some women use egg whites on their skin for treating blemishes. Please read the article by yours truly about
Vitamin A.
Vitamin C, E - Like Selenium they prevent free radical damage. Used to protect the body and boost immunity.
Vitamin B (folate and riboflavin) promotes good brain and body development in babies so perfect for babies both human and chicken.
So no matter if they are fried, boiled, scrambled, or otherwise. Eggs are good source of energy and nutrition.
