Faroe Island

The Faroe Island is situtated between the Norwegian Sea and the north Atlantic Ocean. It is about the half way between the Iceland and Scotland. It Danish it is known as Færøerne. Its total area is fourteen hundred square kilometer. It population was about fifty thousand in twenty ten census. It is a dependent state. From 1948 it taken control on some matters, but over all major responsibities like defence, police and justice is on Denmark.

Before 1400 the Islands were associated with Norway. But with time its govern was taken by Denamark, one of the reason is Kalmar Union.

The Faroese government holds executive power in local government affairs. The head of the government is called the Løgmaður (literally 'law person') or prime minister in English
