Governmental Shutdown in U.S.

govt_shut_downIt is official as of midnight tonight our government will shutdown.  Why you may ask?  Money is the answer.  We, Americans have gone through quite an ordeal in this particular area. After the banks were bailed out, increases in home foreclosures, soaring unemployment and skyrocketing gasoline prices.   No balanced budget, no money.  Our government has run out of money.  As for the people who work hard each day including our soldiers abroad there is nothing in the coffers for you tomorrow.

Who speaks for us?  Congress claims they know what we need.  The Republicans claim that we need the shutdown to prove to the government that they are serious about balancing the budget.  However, if you receive your bills through auto pay from your bank accounts, how would you pay for the debits and charges?  Will the government be willing to pay for these charges and fees?  It was not the fault of these workers or their families.  If they pay for everyone that has this feature, this country will still face a deficit.  We are SOL. (I'll clean it up for you, so out of Luck) No trip to the Bahamas or bonuses for us the American people unlike the bank executives that were bailed out.

But does this also mean that we don't have to worry about getting extensions from the IRS?  I mean if there is no one there to process all of those 1040s, 1040As, and 1040EZs (which might I add is not) who is going to be there to do all of that?  I wouldn't push it!  They will expect you to pay what you owe.  It seems to me there is a double standard here.  The refunds for the people will be delayed, even if they sent in all those lovely forms into the IRS on time.

And what about those who need money for their bills?  They work for a Federal job which is supposed to be the most secure, with all the benefits, and in nowhere in their contract does it say in small print or otherwise:  We might run out of money and in the event we do you might not want to purchase property or services on a regular basis such as: electricity, water, food, sewage, mortgage and rent.

You may ask why I brought up taxes.  A long time ago, say prior to 1776, a group of men thought of as rebels said "No taxation without representation".  They were saying if their money is good enough to take then they must also be afforded the right to speak on their own behalf.  If your family is affected by this shutdown, use the rights that these men gave you.

Flood your representatives' emails and voicemails with your concerns. After all they are called representatives and are therefore supposed to be representing YOU.  If you are a member of a military family, it is hard enough to be without your spouses and loved ones without worrying about where your next meal will come from.  Be the voice for them.
