On the south coast of United States state Alaska this large island exists. By the ranking it is eightieth largest island of world, and second in United States. Its area is about 9311.24 square kilometers. It consist of large mountains and forests in its east and north side. On the south side it present totally different situation with no tress but ice.

One can easily found Kodiak bear and king crabs on island. Fishery is the source of income for the resident people.

A volcano called Novarupta erupted in 1912 affected seriously the island. That eruption was the largest eruption in twenty century. That eruption remains for three days. In 1964 the island was hit by an Earthquake and tsunami.
