It is in the Bethel Census Area of, Alaska. It is a small island with an area of fourty two miles long and 35 miles wide. Its toal area is about 843 square kilometers. Still it is the fifteen largest island in United States. It has total three villages. Total population is about 1065. About the seventy percent of Island area is unpopulated. It is named of the Edward William Nelson who is a nutralist. He studied the island people in 1878.
