For effective communication and Persuasion some things plays important role in preparing the message to deliver. These are audience, which are the listener and their psyche which effect the most in communication, credibility of the sender which increases the effectiveness of message and its persuasion, Purpose as if the purpose is just of pleasure then I will not affect listener and if it has special purpose then real communication will take place and lastly context of communication as this will made the way of listener to concentrate on the main thing. The main guider for persuasion is the use of one’s common sense. For persuasion some techniques are important which are; audience involvement, audience bias, credibility, context and other persuasive techniques.
Audience involvement refers to the level of interest of audience for the message. It depends on situation where such messages are being considered. When message is important for audience then the credibility the sender doesn’t affect listener but when message is not important then listener concentrate on credibility and context. Logically reasoning plays an important role in such situation. Persuasion may change the minds for a shorter term of less involved user in communication. But on the other hand the change in minds of highly involved user are tough but of long term. So this means that situation and logical arguments affect users in different ways. Also logics can change the attitudes of users but tough for highly involved then for less involved ones. Generally accepted statements increased the level of credibility of highly involved user but such statement has no importance for those who are not much involved in such communication.
Audience initial position to persuader’s position refers to Bias. Negatively biased audiences are hard to handle as they require two sided arguments for their satisfaction. Through logically arguments try to convince him on his opposing attitude and after that one favorable statement will shift him from opposing mind to yours position. For positive/neutral audience one sided argument are favorable in situation where there isn’t any chance of counter questions and if there is any chance of such then two sided arguments should be used. This two sided arguments in Positive/neutral biased situation is known as inoculation.
Arguments may have success on credibility from listener on sender. Rank, goodwill, expertise, image and morality are important for credibility. One can create credibility through the use of any of the points and can affect the audience in any situation. But, from organization’s perspective such could be used carefully as some limitations will be there. Personal relationship plays important role in credibility building in business. Credibility is important for less involved users then highly involved case. Also, if situation is much more important than depending on credibility is not favorable. When one has high credibility then direct approach should be used and this will favor your points. However, when the credibility is low then indirect approach will effect. The effect is same when any third party supporting you has high credibility or low one.
Context plays much important role in whole communication way. While persuading someone some favor to your point will give other party a chance to give back you a favor which will be helpful for you. On the other hand in negative situation and positive concession in your points will give other party a chance to have some concession in their points and the communications will go through effectively. Bandwagon effect is also important as you can effectively persuade audience by giving the example of any others who mostly use them.
Common grounds are also important as by going through common point one can persuade audience to their main subject. Also changes last longer when they are reinforce by repetition or audience action.
