Tell Me Lies, Tell Me Sweet Little Lies  this song created by Fleetwood Mac conjures up ideas of cheating, denial, heartbreak and discovery.  So how do we protect ourselves from such a dangerous force?  By doing exactly what our mothers have done for years, press for the truth.

While lips are doing the lying the body betrays the lie with truth.  90% of our conversation is not in what we say but in what our bodies says which is called nonverbal communication.

1. Body space.  We all have our "personal" space which differs from country to country.  But in the world of liar the space becomes much more restricted and so do the movements.  The liar will avoid eye contact or have too much eye contact to prove they are telling the truth.  The person will try to put objects in the middle.

2. Unnatural facial expressions.  Some of the facial expression are forced.  A forced smile engages less facial muscles than a real smile does.

3.  Touching the face.  When some people lie they sweat as the body temperature rises.  So naturally a person will wipe their face.  Most of the time a person who is lying will wipe the nose, mouth, and throat instead of their forehead.

4.  Very defensive.  Defensive people are protecting something.  When a person is innocent they will be offensive.

But one or more if these behaviors exhibited does not mean that the person is lying.  Individuals are very different.  It depends on a person's behavior patterns.    So observe, watch and wait.  Please share your thoughts with us.
